The sheer size of its warehouses, the huge amount of goods handled on a daily basis, and the high service levels to be guaranteed, all meant that a change was needed in the way operations were run. Transalpe turned to DAXO, a Datalogic Mobile Partner specialized in Mobile & Wireless solutions, which developed a tailor-made solution to meet Transalpe’s needs – the Mobile Worker™ Warehouse, engineered specially for warehouse management.

The DAXO Mobile Worker™ Warehouse solution makes use of Kyman™ mobile computers by Datalogic Mobile, and is designed to back-up warehouse staff in the receipt of goods, inventory operations, the relocation of goods and order management through the use of mobile & wireless technology.

“Real-time” Warehousing
Every Transalpe warehouse operator was given a Kyman™ mobile computer, programmed to interface directly with the central server. When the foreman receives the task sheet on his mobile computer, he can immediately assign the jobs to his warehouse operators. To streamline and optimize the process, the system enables all activities to be displayed in detail and ordered according to various criteria, along with a detailed overview of access levels to information, allowing clearance levels to be defined. The warehouse operator then receives the product codes directly from the Kyman™ and carries out the tasks ordered. Then the information and collected data are uploaded into the central system in real time through a Wi-Fi connection.

Thanks to the use of the DAXO Mobile Worker™ Warehouse solution and Kyman™ mobile computers by Datalogic Mobile, Transalpe has recorded a 30% increase in daily productivity levels, and a significant drop in operating costs. The solution has enabled a whole series of key objectives to be achieved: worker productivity has risen, information flows between the various warehouses and the central system have been streamlined, and the margin for error in data transfer has been reduced to a minimum.
