Established since 1988, Rico Logistics provide business-to-business transport and logistic services at World Class levels, with over 1,000 vehicles and operating from over 30 field locations and 150 collection points in the UK and Europe - Rico Logistics offers a full spectrum of field logistics services to a number of international, blue chip clients.

The tracking and tracing of goods throughout Rico's entire network is a critical part of their day to day operations - including:

• The accurate receipting of goods
• Correct picking of items from stock
• Stock checking for customers
• Collection scanning and Engineer returns

Prior to the introduction of the Datalogic Mobile/Codeway solution, Rico had a fleet of legacy hand held terminals, some of which were reaching their end of life, repair costs were increasing and downtime issues were reaching levels unacceptable to Rico's exacting, high standards.

Rico Logistics contacted Datalogic Mobile partner ‘Codeway' and asked them to undertake a comprehensive review of the entire wireless estate, including the hand held terminals. Codeway, in conjunction with Datalogic Mobile, developed a solution that could work with Rico's bespoke TRACE warehouse management system and greatly increase efficiencies, minimise downtime and rectify ‘signal dropout' problems in all of Rico's facilities. A key component of this solution was the introduction of the Skorpio™ supported by Datalogic Mobile's comprehensive ease of care service.

After the installation, Rico enjoyed many immediate benefits, including significant cost savings versus previous repair costs. A dramatic reduction in device downtime, thanks to the Ease of Care next day replacement service and the elimination of ‘signal dropout' issues. Furthermore, Rico's customers are benefitting too, with more accurate, on demand, stock checks.

With Rico Logistics ever growing business, there are plans to expanding their current locations, engaging more customers and increasing the volume of traffic through the Rico Logistics network.
